The 8th Shanghai International Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Forum (Bio-Forum 2006) has been held at Galaxy Hotel from Apr. 25-27, 2006.
Hosted by Modern Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industry Office of Shanghai Municipality and organized by Shanghai Center of Research & Development of New Drugs, Shanghai Technological and Industrial Promotion Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine, The Institute Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai Technology Convention & Exhibition Co., Ltd, Bio-Forum 2006 also win the support of many authorities such as Ministry of Science and TechnologyӢState Food and Drug AdministrationӢState Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine , Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Economical Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA, USA), Chinese Biopharmaceutical Association (CBA, USA) and so on.
Mr. Yiping Li , the director of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality attended and gave the speech at the opening ceremony. Mr. Jianping Wang, the vice general engineer emceed the opening ceremony.
With the theme of Biotechnology and Pharmacy Creativity Front and Development Strategy, the conference consists of four paralleled sessions covering the key elements---- New drugs and Generic drugs session, Bio-technology and Industry Development session, Venture capital and project cooperation session, Emerging Infectious Diseases session. In addition, the Pre-session & 2006 Workshop on Clinical Research and Application of Tumor Drugs has also been held before the opening of the conference.
More than 550 participants from 10 countries and regions attended the conference. About 120 delegates are from abroad (including USA, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Russia, Spain, Italy, Korean, China and China Hong Kong) and others are domestic.
The conference invited James D. Green (Senior Vice President, Biogen Idec Inc), David S.Bredt (Vice president for integrative biology, Eli Lilly, Indianapolis, Ind) and Hongjian Ma (Vice President, China National Center for Biotechnology Development) addressed their Key-note speeches Nonclinical Development Strategies for Biologics, Pharmaceutical R&D Challenges: Role for Global Partnerships and Challenge and Prospect of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industrialization in China.
Furthermore, Allan S. Hoffman (Member of American Academy of Sciences, Department of Bioengineering, University of Washington), Yumei Wen (Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fudan University), Tim Orpin (Vice President, Applied Biosystems, Asia Pacific), Archakov Alexander(Director, Research Institute of Biomedical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician), Ivor Royston (Founding Managing Member, Forward Ventures, USA), Debbie Hart (President, Biotechnology Council of New Jersey, USA), Linda F.
